Ingrid started Factor-I for her freelance work with a variety of clients in 2001. Since January 2019 Pieter joined Factor-I to continue his work on a freelance basis. We do both have our own client groups, but there is a lot of complementarity. Ingrid works (internationally) on design innovation in a broad range of working fields, whereas Pieter has a strong basis in the international tech innovation ecosystem of Brainport Eindhoven region.
Ingrid van der Wacht
I work as a connector, communicator, and conceptor with a focus on co/design for better organizations and better lives.
Over the years I have initiated projects for the use of design as a driver for social innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development. I have extensive experience in cross-sectoral partnerships between public authorities, industries, businesses and designers – and may be first and foremost the users – with a focus on new methodologies to co-design. I work for years for organizations driven by (Dutch) Design. Like for Dutch Design Foundation, the organizer of the Dutch Design Week, as their freelance international projects lead. On this behalf, I also work as chair of the membership committee for World Design Weeks.
I have developed and worked on various European projects. At this moment it is Food Heroes focusing on co-creation of solutions against food loss and waste at the beginning of the food chain.
As a member of the board of the Dutch Institute of Food & Design I work also on the promotion of design around food with Dutch eating designer Marije Vogelzang who founded the Dutch Institute of Food & Design.
It is my belief that the creative power of design – when well managed and well understood – can help us solve problems the world faces today. To promote this, I often speak at national and international congresses about Dutch design for social and economic innovation in general and the developments and results in Brainport, the region of Eindhoven in particular. As a connector I also facilitate congresses, workshops and events. I received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Tilburg, studied French and marketing.
From January 1st, 2019 I work as a freelancer at Factor-i. I focus on connection and business development, with the aim to create valuable relationships for businesses and organizations. One of my core tasks nowadays is welcoming delegations from abroad, presenting them the possibilities in Brainport Eindhoven region. Also, I am involved in the organization of ROAD 2019, an international automotive conference on autonomous driving at the Automotive Campus, Helmond.
As a volunteer, I am a member of the board of the Green Evolution Hub. This foundation works on the development of young design talents developing concepts, products, and systems for a sustainable and circular economy and society. Next, to a training and networking program, the talents organize in Yksi Expo, Strijp S, Eindhoven exhibitions that zoom in on green solutions to engage a broad audience.
Previously I worked as a Manager Business Development within the Brainport International Programme at Brainport Development NV. I was responsible for supporting collaboration, trade, and investments between the Eindhoven Brainport region and several foreign countries. The promotion of the High Tech Campus, Automotive Campus and more recently the Agri-Foodtech Campus made also part of my job.
I studied Commercial Economics at the Groningen University of Applied Sciences.
